Elecciones subnacionales Bolivia 2021: resultados en clave de representación política

Abstract

This work discusses the most recent sub-national elections in Bolivia from a descriptive perspective of institutional design and the results of political representation. Starting with a brief review of the electoral systems in place for the sub-national competition, the analysis is completed with a contrast between the valid votes for executive and legislative authorities, as well as the levels of parliamentary fragmentation in each territorial unit. The results draw attention to the phenomena and dynamics that problematize some notions about the electoral systems, as well as the understanding and analysis of democracy from the sub-national electoral competition.
