    • Abstract

    The research agenda on information and disinformation, as well as the role of social media in these dynamics, are vital to better understand the development of democracy. In this way, current research on this topic not only analyze the origins of these problems, but also the incentives and opportunities for their correction, seeking to contain the negative and rather get closer to the democratizing potential of these technologies. Thus, the second issue of Revista Elecciones for this year is dedicated to exploring the dynamics of (dis)information, social media and their relationship with democracy.

    Paolo Sosa-Villagarcia, The University of British Columbia

    Investigador del Instituto de Estudios Peruanos. Es candidato a doctor en el Departamento de Ciencia Política de la Universidad de Columbia Británica y tiene una licenciatura en Ciencias Sociales con mención en Ciencia Política y Gobierno de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Actualmente es Human-Centric Cyber-Security Fellow del Electoral Integrity Project. Ha sido Fox International Fellow en la Universidad de Yale, Public Scholars Initiative Fellow en la UBC y coordinador de país en el Varieties of Democracy Project (V-Dem). En 2024 fue ganador del premio internacional e interdisciplinario "Un contrato social para el siglo XXI" de la Maison Rousseau et Littérature de Ginebra, Suiza.
