Presidential primaries Chile 2021: analysis after the Constituent Assembly

    • Abstract

    This analysis evaluates the Chilean presidential primary election in the context of a cons- tituent political process. The latter is part of recent electoral behaviors that have changed the stable dynamics of the political scene to more dynamic and complex to predict ones. For the analysis, two moments of the primary elections are considered: a) the legal primaries in which the political conglomerate Apruebo Dignidad and Chile Vamos participate, and b) the citizen primaries of the conglomerate Unidad Constituyente. For both cases, a descriptive analysis of the electoral process is presented, evaluating the coincidences between the axes of the government programs and the constituent themes and the main electoral results with their possible political consequences.
