  • Abstract

This article analyzes different approaches that emerged in the debate on the right of women's suffrage in the Constituent Congress of 1931-1932, with the aim of finding out the reason why women were granted only the municipal vote, denying them the "political vote" to elect national authorities. I will analyze the conceptions of the representatives of the homeland, about who should have the right to "political vote", what was the role that women should play in society and what was the civil situation of women as "non-citizens" in the context studied.
