  • Abstract

Since 1980, a process of introduction or reestablishment of elections at subnational levels of government has been taking place in several countries in the region. The cases of Peru and Chile are particularly interesting because the reestablishment of municipal elections and/or the introduction of regional elections occurred in the context of particular processes of transition to democracy.
