Guerra civil y fractura del liberalismo en España: repercusiones en la concepción de los partidos políticos (1834-1844)

Abstract

The Spanish nineteenth-century liberalism pursued to set the State and society as opposed to the Old Regime’s own patterns. Much of the changes that were pushed were on the agenda of political protagonists of liberal roots; others, however, were in some sense not voluntary by-products. Among these unwanted consequences we find the development of the political parties rooted in the chambers of representatives. The split in the spanish liberalism that took place in the thirties of the 19th century reinforced and accelerated the reflection on the words used to designate these new entities, reflection that more slowly already existed since the last quarter of the 18th century.
