La implementación del voto electrónico en el Ecuador. Experiencias en las elecciones seccionales 2014

Abstract

On February 23, 2014, Ecuador celebrated its sectional elections for governors, vice governors, mayors and councilors. The novelty of this election was the implementation of electronic voting in the towns of Azuay, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and La Morita. This addition was proposed in order to guarantee the political rights of citizens, to provide improvements in infrastructure and strengthen public confidence in national electoral bodies. The implementation of this new type of vote is another step towards the next technological innovations to be incorporated into the Ecuadorian electoral system.
