Participación política de mujeres en los gobiernos locales

Abstract

Despite the application of the quota law in the last 16 years, the exclusion of women from politics is evident, as they have never even reached the 30% quota. We are a country focused on normative changes and not on achieving equality on a daily basis between women and men, equality in facts or "substantive equality". We live in times of resistance to women's rights, while other countries approve parity in representation and show us how to be consistent with democratic principles. Women's participation barely reaches an embarrassing 3% in provincial and district municipalities, but we aspire to a 50:50 Peru by 2030.
