  • Abstract

In this article we analyze the main electoral events regulated in the Constitution of Cádiz and in the Cádiz electoral rules. In particular, we want to differentiate, based on modern political sciences, pre-electoral, electoral and post-electoral events for municipal posts in constitutional local governments, as well as institutions and actors involved in them. Likewise, through some documents left by the Cádiz electoral experience in Peru between 1812 and 1814, we will give an account of cases in which the examined rules were applied in local spheres for the election to public offices. These show evidence of the coexistence of political languages and practices of the old and new regime.
