  • Abstract

Foreigners can vote in our country since 1980. Thus, it is not a recent phenomenon or a right acknowledged to a particular nationality. Non-citizens’ votes are based on the importance of people taking part in public affairs, which also implies the right to be elected. After meeting certain requirements, aliens in Peru can vote and run only for municipal elections. This article helps provide an account of what has been going on since the 2010 election, advising on the level of impact generated. There has been little study in this respect but we hope to contribute more with this brief article.
