La experiencia electoral gaditana y su influencia en los albores de la República peruana

Abstract

The commemoration of the bicentennial of the Spanish monarchy Constitution enactment, on March 19, 1812, has been the appropriate occasion to submit the genesis of the organization of the general and extraordinary Cortes of Cadiz to analysis, as well as the most significant contributions of such Charter seen from different angles. The discourse of people’s sovereignty was revealed in this nineteenth century context along with the representative character of the Legislative Power, the only entity able to write it and to approve it. This article discusses the passage of this organism from sovereignty, legitimacy and religion issues to subsequently lead them to the establishment of the institutional foundations of the Peruvian State in its early years.
