Abstract
The reforms on gender-based political violence adopted in April 2020 have established new obligations for Mexican political parties. One year after the reform, in the context of increasing political violence against women and at the beginning of electoral campaigns, it is necessary to review the progress in complying with these obligations. The paper aims to inquire whether and how political parties have articulated their commitment to eradicating violence against women in politics. It proposes a tool to analyze compliance with the regulatory adjustments required by the reform. The evaluation of the internal norms of the 10 Mexican political parties shows that only three of them achieve satisfactory harmonization (PAN, PRI, and RSP), another three are at an intermediate level (PRD, MC, and Morena), while the remaining four (PVEM, PT, PES, and FSP) present a deficient level of compliance with regulatory requirements. All in all, Mexican parties show little commitment to eradicating and addressing political violence faced by women.
