  • Abstract

The Andean Region has become the most unstable in Latin America. High rates of poverty

and inequality, the loss of the institutional capacity of the State, the discrediting of political parties and political leaders, the increase in anti-political trends and the explosion of ethnic and regional demands are the main obstacles to democratic consolidation in the region. But how successful are the parties in the Andean countries? Which have been successful at the different levels of electoral competition? How do you measure such success / failure? How are party systems composed? These are some of the questions that will be answered in this work.
